How to take the quick IQ test

  1. Add the extension. Its page opens by itself; later, open it from the toolbar icon.
  2. Choose Quick test (12 questions, 12 minutes) or the full test (32 questions in four timed sections, up to 35 minutes).
  3. Solve pattern, number, word and shape puzzles. Each answer sets how hard the next question will be.
  4. Read your result: an IQ estimate with a likely range, your percentile and a review of every question.

What you get

  • Adaptive questions

The test re-estimates your ability after each answer and pitches the next question at your level, as modern assessments do. Expect many questions to feel hard: that is by design.

  • Four abilities

The full test has sections for pattern reasoning (3×3 matrices), number series and grids, verbal reasoning and spatial reasoning (rotation and cube folding). A language-free version uses patterns, numbers and shapes only.

  • A result, not just a number

Your IQ estimate comes with a 90% range, your percentile, your place on the bell curve and the IQ scale bands. The full test adds an ability profile with your strongest area.

  • Every answer explained

Open any question after the test to see your answer, the correct one and the exact rule that solves it.

  • Fresh questions every time

Puzzles are generated from rules when you need them, so a retake next month brings new questions, not ones you remember.

  • Daily puzzle and practice

A new puzzle waits in the toolbar popup every day, easy on Monday and expert by Sunday, with a streak. Practice any question type untimed, with the solution after each answer.

  • Brain tests on the side

A reaction time test, a number memory test (digit span) and a 20-question vocabulary test. They are kept apart and never change your IQ score.

  • Certificate and history

Download a printable certificate or a share card, and follow your scores over time on the History chart.

Nothing leaves your browser

Quick IQ Test makes no network requests. There are no accounts, servers, analytics or ads. Your answers, results, streaks and settings are stored only in the extension's storage in this browser.

It asks for two permissions: storage, to save your progress, and alarms, to refresh the daily-puzzle reminder on the toolbar icon. Export or delete all of your data at any time in Settings.

Questions and answers

How long does the quick IQ test take?

The quick test has 12 questions and a 12-minute limit. The full test has 32 questions in four timed sections and takes up to 35 minutes. You can pause at any time; the question is hidden while the clock is stopped.

Is it really a free IQ test?

Yes. The score, the answer review, the certificate, practice and the daily puzzle are all included. There is no payment step and no email wall.

How accurate is the IQ score?

It is an educational estimate, not a clinical assessment. Question difficulties are anchored to published research data, and the result is shown as a likely range rather than a single exact number.

What do IQ scores mean?

IQ is set so that the average is 100 and two thirds of people score between 85 and 115. The result page shows the band your score falls in, from well below average to exceptional, and the share of people in each band.

Can I take it if English is not my first language?

Yes. Choose the language-free test on the start page: 30 questions on patterns, numbers and shapes, with no word knowledge needed. The interface is available in 52 languages.

Why can't I go back to a question?

Because the test adapts: each answer decides the next question. Unanswered questions count as wrong, so make your best guess when you are unsure.
