Privacy policy: Oven to Air Fryer Conversion

The extension reads the recipe on the tab where you open it and converts it in your browser. It has no account and no servers of ours, sends nothing to us, shows no ads and sells no data. Recipes you save stay in your browser.

Oven to Air Fryer Conversion ("we", "us") is a Chrome extension, published by CWS Tools, that converts the oven times and temperatures of a recipe to an air fryer, a slow cooker, a pressure cooker or a multicooker. It has no account and no servers of ours. We don't show ads, don't sell or share data, and don't track the pages you visit.

What the extension reads, and when

  • The recipe on the current tab, when you click the extension's toolbar button, press its shortcut (Alt+Shift+A) or open its popup or side panel on that tab. It reads the structured recipe data the page publishes for search engines (schema.org Recipe: title, servings, ingredients, steps, times, the photo address and, when the site gives them, its nutrition facts) to build the recipe card. While the card or its small launcher is on the page, it re-reads the recipe when the page changes its address without reloading, so the card does not show an old recipe.
  • Only if you turn on "Show the air fryer button on recipe pages automatically" (off by default; Chrome asks you for permission first): a small script checks each page you open for recipe markup. On a page without a recipe it does nothing more. On a page with one, the extension adds its small launcher and reads the recipe as above. You can turn this off in the settings at any time, which also gives the permission back.
  • The values you type into the popup's quick converter (oven temperature, time and food), and the calories you enter for a recipe.

It reads nothing else on the page, and nothing on other tabs.

What the extension keeps, and where

  • Your settings: your appliances (type, size, highest setting), units, default method, oven type, safe-temperature mode and region, altitude, theme, text size, where the card opens (page or side panel) and whether the automatic button is on. They are kept in Chrome's sync storage, so they follow your Chrome profile if you use Chrome sync.
  • My recipes, only for the recipes you save: the recipe as read from the page (title, ingredients, steps, times, nutrition facts), its web address and photo address, the date you saved it, the method and servings you chose, and the calories you typed. They are kept in Chrome's local storage on this computer: not synced and not uploaded. You can export them to a file on your computer, import such a file, and delete any of them in My recipes.
  • The last values typed in the popup, in Chrome's local storage on this computer.
  • When a note about our iPhone app (below) was last shown, and which notes you closed, in Chrome's local storage on this computer, so the notes stay rare.
  • While you cook: the state of running step timers (so the toolbar button can show the minutes left) and, only until the print page has opened it, the recipe you print. Both are kept in Chrome's session storage, which is cleared when you close the browser.

Removing the extension deletes everything it keeps.

What leaves your computer

The extension sends nothing to us or to anyone else: no analytics, no error reports, no servers. Its code, fonts, food tables and the QR-code generator are all inside it.

  • Recipe photos in My recipes. When you open My recipes while online, each saved recipe's photo is loaded from the recipe's own website, like any image on that site, without telling the site which page asked for it (no referrer). Nothing about you or your other recipes goes with it. Offline, or if the photo cannot load, a drawing is shown instead.
  • "Open the original page" opens the recipe's website in a new tab, as any link does.
  • "Send to phone" builds a link to https://tabandtap.com/r/ that contains the converted recipe (title, servings, ingredients, steps, the converted setting and time, and the address of the original recipe) inside the link itself, after the # sign, and shows it as a QR code on your screen. Nothing is sent when the code is shown. When you open the link on your phone, the phone loads the page from tabandtap.com, but the part after # stays on the phone: browsers do not send it to the web server, and the page renders the recipe on the phone. Anyone you give the link to can read the recipe in it.
  • "Print" opens the converted recipe in a page of the extension, inside your browser.
  • Notes about Kitchen, our iPhone app. The recipe card, My recipes and the welcome page can show a short note about it, at most once a week, and a closed note does not come back. Its link opens our page https://tabandtap.com/kitchen/ (or the app's App Store page once it is available) in a new tab, like any link; the address carries tags that say which note you clicked. Nothing else is sent, and the extension itself does not report whether a note was shown.

What reaches us

Nothing. The extension has no analytics, no feedback form and no servers, and it sends nothing to us. If you write to us, we receive what you write and your email address, and use them only to answer you.

Permissions

  • activeTab: to read the recipe on the tab where you clicked the button or pressed the shortcut.
  • scripting: to place the recipe card, which is part of the extension, on that tab, and, only if you turn on the automatic button, to register the small script that looks for recipe markup.
  • storage: to keep your settings, My recipes, the last popup values, the timer state and, for a moment, the recipe you print.
  • sidePanel: to open the recipe card in Chrome's side panel when you choose that.
  • Optional access to websites (http and https): asked only when you turn on the automatic button, and used only to find recipe pages and show the launcher on them. Without it, the extension has no access to any website until you click its button there.

What we don't do

No ads, no analytics or tracking, no selling or sharing of data, and no code loaded from elsewhere: everything the extension runs is inside it. We don't use data for anything other than converting and keeping the recipes you open and save, and not to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Our use of information follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Children

Oven to Air Fryer Conversion is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

Your rights

Removing the extension deletes what it keeps, and you can delete saved recipes in My recipes at any time. We hold no data about you. Where data protection laws give you rights over your information, write to us and we'll answer your request.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and important changes are announced in the extension.
