Oven to Air Fryer Conversion help and support
Answers to the most common problems when you convert a recipe with Oven to Air Fryer Conversion. If your problem is not here, email support.
First things to try
- Open the recipe page itself, not a list of recipes or a search page, then click the toolbar button or press Alt+Shift+A.
- Pin the extension (the puzzle icon in the toolbar, then the pin) so its button is always one click away.
- If the page has no recipe data, open the popup and type the oven temperature and time into the quick converter.
- Open Settings and add your air fryer's size and highest temperature, so the card caps the heat and splits big batches.
- Reload the recipe page after you install or update the extension.
Common problems and fixes
“No recipe found on this page”
The card reads the structured recipe data (schema.org) that most large cooking sites publish. Some pages don't have it, or only show a list of recipes. Open the recipe's own page, or use the quick converter in the popup: enter the oven temperature and time and pick the closest food.
Nothing happens when I click the button or press Alt+Shift+A
Chrome doesn't let extensions run on its own pages (chrome://, the Chrome Web Store) or on PDF files. On a normal page, reload it once and try again. If the shortcut does nothing, another extension may use Alt+Shift+A: set a different one at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
The button doesn't appear on recipe pages by itself
That is the automatic button, and it is off by default. Turn it on in the popup or in Settings and accept Chrome's prompt. If you declined the prompt, the button appears only after you click the toolbar icon. It shows up only on pages with recipe data.
The converted time looks too short or too long
Air fryers differ in size and power, so the card gives a range and a “start checking at” point. Check that the card read the recipe's oven correctly (regular or fan) under “Details & tips”, and add your appliance in Settings. Always check doneness, and use a food thermometer for meat, poultry and fish.
“Not converted for the air fryer”
Some dishes can't be cooked safely or well in that appliance, such as soups and wet batters in an air fryer or frozen meat in a slow cooker. The card explains why, suggests another tab when one fits, and keeps the recipe's original instruction.
The timer stopped when I closed the card
It keeps running: the small launcher on the page counts down, and the toolbar button shows the minutes left, “!” when it's time to shake or flip and “✓” when it's done. Reopen the card to see the same timer. Closing the tab or reloading the page ends it.
Photos are missing in My recipes
Photos load from the recipe's own website, so offline, or when the site moved the photo, the list shows a drawing instead. The saved recipe itself is still there and opens without the internet.
“This file isn’t an export from My recipes”
Import accepts only files made with Export in My recipes. Recipes that are already saved are not added twice, and damaged entries are skipped with a note.
The QR code opens an empty page or a short version
The recipe travels inside the link, and a QR code holds only so much. For long recipes the card shortens the steps or keeps only the ingredients and the recipe's web address, and says so under the code. Copy the link instead if you want to send it by message.
Your data
Oven to Air Fryer Conversion keeps your settings in Chrome's sync storage and the recipes you save, with any calories you type, in this browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded. You can delete saved recipes in My recipes or export them to a file. To stop the automatic button, turn it off in Settings: that also returns the site permission. Removing the extension deletes all of its data.
